Before the amazing art must come the technical structure. All of John Tuckwell’s work is made with porcelain paper clay. He colours, scrapes, layers, bends, beats and layers again. Then he cuts and builds. John normally ends up with a vessel, sometimes a sculpture. He is interested in explaining how to develop the surface to realise the potential of his little group of ideas. On the way, at the same time, he wants to build the scaffold, the technical structure.
